Binge Drinking

Binge drinking is a far more wide-spread problem than many people realise or care to admit. Although many binge drinkers do so deliberately, it's not only wild parties or mad drinking sessions where binge drinking occurs. Many people find themselves drinking to excess after intending to only have 'one or two'.

The fact is – even though society holds up drinking as an important part of social life, and advertisers convince you that alcohol could enhance your social standing – drinking to excess can have an adverse effect on your personal life as well as your health.

What exactly is binge drinking?
Binge drinking is brought on by a negative thought pattern that focuses on getting drunk. This thought pattern can be in place before drinking begins or take hold as the drinker loses control. Signs of binge drinking are:
Heavy drinking that occurs over a short period
Drinking with the specific intention of getting drunk
Drinking that leads to social or physical harm
Drinking that occurs in groups
Drinking based on the belief that you will have more fun if you are drunk

How hypnotherapy will help you beat binge drinking
Hypnotherapy is a very effective technique in the treatment of binge drinking as it identifies the negative thought patterns that lead to destructive automatic responses and behaviours. Hypnotherapy works with your unconscious mind to replace those negative thought patterns and stop the unwanted behaviour for good. Rather than relying solely on will power, hypnotherapy works at a subconscious level to reduce the importance placed on alcohol and enhance the ability to look at the broader picture of the situation. Binge drinkers who have beat their habit with the help of hypnotherapy have often reported the experience as liberating, bringing them a sense of peace and freedom.
