Children and Hypnotherapy
Children respond fantastically to hypnotherapy and make good use of their imaginations. If you are a parent or relative and wish to help your child with any issues they have, we may be able to help.
The consultation
It is important to know that all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when attending a hypnotherapy consultation. Not every hypnotherapist works with children as it is a specialist area and very young children will not benefit from hypnotherapy so please always discuss this with your therapist.
As we regularly work with children and have many successes we have decided to protect the identity of clients, but we do have numbers of parents who have given us their permission to pass them on should you wish to speak with them about their experiences.

How can hypnosis help?
We regularly work with children here at the Bridge Clinic and have had many successes. Basically we use children's fabulous imagination to help them overcome their issues. They never feel embarrassed or uncomfortable and they are never asked to explain or justify themselves.
Hypnosis works really well on children because they do not yet have years of life experience imprinted on their mind! And they don't have any fears or misconceptions about hypnosis like many adults do. In the hands of a good hypnotherapist, your child can really flourish and feel happier, more confident and more empowered.
Everyone suffers emotion and upset during their childhood years – but what about when those problems affect your child’s everyday life? What about if that problem just won’t go away? What about if it is making them miserable and distant?
Children do not fully develop cognitive processes until they are about 11 or 12 – and they have amazing imaginations – so hypnosis works fantastically for them.
What can we treat?
Children over the age of 5 have the necessary verbal understanding to be hypnotised and they relax into hypnosis in a very easy and natural way.
